Recapture started in 2008 (as Recapture Refunds) when owner/accountant, Davina, wanted a lifestyle change and the ability to work from home and still be involved in the upbringing of her two boys.

Recapture Refunds was one of the first tax refund businesses in New Zealand. This niche market was soon taken over by large corporations with big advertising budgets, and eventually (10 years later) the government changed the tax laws removing the ability to only claim refunds.

However, Recapture Refunds anticipated this and had diversified into providing accounting services for small businesses several years earlier.

Now rebranded, Recapture provides accounting and taxation services to small kiwi businesses all over New Zealand with a mission to make accounting and tax tasks simpler and less time consuming for businesses.

This is made possible through personalised service of an experienced accountant coupled with the advanced efficiency of accounting software (Xero & Hubdoc).

It is important for Recapture do their best for the environment and society by being a socially responsible business.

Maintaining an environmentally sustainable office includes using recycled paper, refillable ink, compostable courier bags, while working towards a paperless office. Recycling, using LED lighting, chemical free cleaning products, utilising natural heating/cooling and lighting where possible, and using a hybrid vehicle (when necessary), all add to reducing our carbon footprint.

Recapture also donates 10% of its annual profits to KidsCan and Women's Refuge to support some of our most vulnerable women and children within New Zealand.

The face behind Recapture is Davina Perry.

As an experienced qualified accountant and Xero expert (taking time off mid-career to do social work and volunteer with street kids in Brazil), she values people and quality of life highly. Therefore, she chooses to work from home where she is available to her two sons when needed. As a business owner she has flexibility to support her children in sports and other activities.

Davina also volunteers with various clubs that her children are involved in, and in her spare time enjoys the fresh NZ air, a good movie, and decorating cakes.
